Johan Markusson is best known for his portraits of musicians, writers and artists. He begun to work as an professional photographer when he lived in New York around the millennium, his photographs have appeared in magazines such as Big, Carls Car's, Colors, Merge, Motiv, Sex, Sonic and publishing houses like Norstedts förlag and Natur & Kultur.
He has produced four photo books, all of them artist books printed in small editions, "Our man in Tokyo" (1998), "Last Christmas" (2002), "McCarren Park" (2004) and recent project "Butiken" (2015).
He has a bachelor degree in Photography from the University of Gothenburg in 2007. He lives and works in Stockholm.
